Practically every Russian knows about Bilibin's magical illustrations accompanying the bedtime fairy tales. Astonishingly, these illustrations have been enchanting audiences for over a century. Bilibin's fantastical and fairy-tale realm acts like a visual guide to Russian national symbols.

The series created for the "Various fairy tales" project quotes four plots from folk tales and is a direct reference to Bilibin's illustrations. However, within the context of contemporary realities, where the significance of both the object itself and the words denoting it emphasizes its belonging to modern culture as a symbol or sign.
In the painting "I look...I see," the bitten apple is not only a fairy tale character but also a symbol of the "Apple" company, implying the internet as the primary source of information in the modern world.
