Artist about this artwork

Kate Beliavskaya's paintings for Natalia Balayan's symbolic cards transport us back to our childhood, where parents and grandparents shared Russian fairy tales. These magical stories, sometimes a bit mysterious, stick with us forever, hidden in our memories. They're there to help us through tough times, but sometimes they can

get in the way of enjoying life.

These cards are meant to shift our focus and change how we see those familiar childhood characters. In this world, Baba Yaga becomes a young beauty who turns into a witch just to shake off unwanted attention. Koschei the Immortal transforms into a wise philosopher and a favorite among women.

In Kate's works, she loves flipping familiar stories around: Zmey Gorynych surrounded by butterflies instead of flames, a charming Frog Princess, and Russian beauties taking selfies with an iPhone. It all sets a fresh vibe, brings good feelings, and makes us see our everyday world in a completely new light.

Her illustrations are done in the artist's usual style, mixing comics, pop art, and art nouveau graphics.
